Children's Environment Day

Preparations:
  • First of all, we searched for a land, which could be converted into a herbal garden.
  • Keeping in mind the resources available, we covered area of around 50-60 metres square.
  • Then we made the barren land fertile & converted it into a herbal garden by carrying out the following actions.
  1. We removed the weeds and other unwanted objects from the land.
  2. As the soil was hard, we tilled it hard numerous times until it was aerated and cultivable.
  3. We made it fertile by adding manure and biofertilizers like cow dung .
  4. Still, there was a big problem, we didn't have a water source. So we dug a canal from the water source (Tube well), about 150 mts away to our garden, and further branched out the canal to irrigate the soil to sustain plant growth.
  5. We made arrangements for the plantation of saplings in the garden by continuously watering and tilling the soil, digging the soil at particular places and making mud boundaries within the garden for proper water supply to the plants.
  6. We arranged for medicinal saplings such as Tulsi, Marigold, Satavar, Sadabahar, Aloevera, Dhatura, Ashwagandha, Meethi Neem, etc. from various sources like government and private nurseries, our school, and some voluntary organizations.
  7. With the help of bamboo sticks we did the fencing of the proposed area of the garden in order to protect the young saplings from the danger of animals.

ACTIVITIES OF THE CHILDREN'S ENVIRONMENT DAY
